This workshop is intended to familiarize you with the necessary tools and techniques for jewelry and metalsmithing. A foundation of skills will allow you to make countless designs and hone skills. We will discuss and perform techniques such as piercing and sawing, soldering, surface embellishment with hammers, chasing tools, roll printing, cold connection, forging, and findings. We will create designs based on techniques performed and discuss ideas of creating a small collection.
Projects will include pierced and sawed cuff bracelet or pendant, textured rings from sheet and wire, spinner rings, forged bangles, roll printed cuffs with rivets, and roll printed earrings with wire wrapped briolettes.
Beginner to Intermediate
Price does not include the cost of basic tool kit and materials. An additional fee of $10 will be collected on the first day of class for a studio materials. A confirmation email will be sent upon registration with a supply list. Once basic tools are purchased you can purchase tools a la carte. Material costs will vary based on the type of metal and materials you choose to work with such as brass, copper, sterling silver, stones etc.
