Join jeweler Elizabeth Tokoly for a live demonstration on how to make earrings. You will learn how to make a jump ring, forge, solder, and how to make findings for the earring. Finishing techniques will also be demonstrated. There will be an open forum for questions and answers on materials and techniques.

This demonstration will be conducted live on Zoom. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted.

Learn to build settings and ring shanks. Take your ring shanks to the next level using the rolling mill and forging techniques to make ring shanks. We will use fancy shaped stones such as emerald, square, pear, trillion or triangle to explore different types of settings.

Students will learn to: use jump rings and rivets for step bezel setting and cold connections; create a chain with a toggle clasp using texturing and soldering; and fabricate bamboo and facet file rings. Appliqué jewelry, hollow forms, easy prongs, and tube settings will also be covered. Completion of projects will vary based on your designs and pace of progress. Advanced students are welcome to use time for individual projects while overseen by instructor. At the end of the class session a curriculum will be created for each student specific to their design style and technical direction for future endeavors.

In this workshop, students will make forged hoop earrings and hairpin bracelets. Through this workshop, you will learn to move metal, solder, clean up, and finishing techniques. A materials fee of $35 is included in the tuition.

Making Matters: Fresh Perspectives in Fine Craft is an annual exhibition showcasing the work of the season’s visiting artist instructors and summer artistic staff. The variety of media, styles and techniques included reflect the diversity in the programming offered at Peters Valley.

Forged Earring and hair Pin Bracelets

You will learn how to make a jump ring into a pair of earrings using forging techniques. We will cover soldering and finish earrings. Hair Pin Cuff bracelets will incorporate forging and forming techniques. You can make one bracelet or multiple to stack together as a cuff.
